EDGELIB SDK 3.98 released hotfixing non-public API call
Published: November 23rd, 2009
Elements Interactive Mobile B.V. releases version 3.98 of multi-platform mobile game engine EDGELIB, which removes a call to an apparant non-public API.
EDGELIB's Quit function calls "terminate", which appears to be a non-public API Apple prohibits to use in applications by third-party developers. Since early November Apple is enforcing its App Store approval policies more strictly by closely examining applications for the usage of non-public APIs. Version 3.98 addressed this issue by removing the terminate call altogether. The Quit function is now ignored for iPhone.
A number of other, minor, issues have also been addressed in 3.98. A complete list of improvements and bugfixes can be found in the release history.
Licensees can download the hotfix for iPhone in the licensee area of EDGELIB.com.
EDGELIB supports the development of 2D and 3D mobile applications and games for Apple iPhone, Windows Mobile, Symbian S60, Symbian UIQ, GP2X, Gizmondo, Linux desktop and Windows desktop. Key features include true multi-platform development, high-performance 2D graphics, hardware accelerated 3D graphics through OpenGL ES, RGBA surfaces and both Bluetooth and TCP/IP networking.
